Scope of the Job:
QCi is seeking an experienced documentation control manager to support its rapidly growing engineering and manufacturing teams. This person will be responsible for overseeing and actively managing the company's technical documentation in both the engineering and the manufacturing teams. In the beginning the person will be expected to work very closely with the engineering and the manufacturing teams to support the creation of these documents. Later, as QCi expands, the person will be responsible for building out and managing a documentation control team and a technical writing team for the company. These teams will be responsible for drafting and maintaining organization, accessibility, quality, and security of all technical documentation as well as version control.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Drafting and preparation of technical documentation
- Implementing and actively managing a document organization system
- Perform Engineering changes to existing documentation and coordinate implementation with the ERP system and the Planning, Supply Chain, Quality, and Engineering functions.
- Quality control for all technical documentation
- Conduct regular audits of company’s documentation
- Track document revisions and version control
- Project ownership and team leadership
- Maintaining security and accessibility of the technical documentation
- Maintaining compliance of the documentation in accordance with industry and legal standards
- Provide documentation system support/training to team members
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to project schedules and meet project deadlines
Required Skills & Experience:
- A BA in a field that emphasized technical communication or equivalent
- 5 years of experience in a related position with experience drafting technical documentation for an engineering or a manufacturing company in the US
- 1 year in a supervisory position managing technical writers
- Strong technical writing ability
- Ability to perform basic CAD work, including simple drawing updates, markups and document revisions
- Knowledge of industry best practices and standards, for example, ISO and ASME
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Additional Preferred Skills:
- 8 years of experience in a related position with experience drafting technical documentation for an engineering or a manufacturing company in the US
- 2 years in a supervisory position managing technical writers
- Experience working in a high paced manufacturing environment, with emphasis on semiconductor manufacturing or electronics manufacturing
- Through understanding of Configuration Management principles, PLM systems, PDM systems.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as Syspro
- Knowledge of ISO9001 or ISO14001 standards
